Oprah Winfrey And Her Accomplishments

Oprah Winfrey. Most people have heard of her name and assumed she was a billionaire. But did you know that there is more to the story behind this hardworking woman. Oprah Winfrey, a billionaire and television personality, was born in Mississippi on January 29, 1954. Her grandmother was the sole caregiver for her after her parents divorced. Oprah was an exceptional child. At the age of 2, she was reading and had skipped two grade levels (and another later in life). After six, Oprah moved in to her mother’s home in a dangerous and poor neighborhood. Everything was terrible from that point on.

She lost all interest in her education and became disobedient as she grew up. Her mother was busy with her other children and boyfriend, and worse, she was raped by her male relatives at age 14. Her mother was unable to bear her child so she became pregnant. She gave birth shortly thereafter. Oprah enjoyed a lot of the support and love she received from her father while living with him. Her father made her a complete new person. He was very strict with her. He made her learn five new words each day, and required her to participate in debate, speech, and drama during high school. She was a great orator because of this. Oprah won the speech competition and received a full university scholarship.

All of this was her childhood. Her adult life has been very fulfilling. She is now a billionaire. Here’s how it happened. In her final year of university, she was hired by a Nashville-based radio station. At 19, she became the first Black woman to host CBS’s evening news. She was then hired by a Baltimore morning talk show host after she graduated. A.M. Chicago was her first show. Oprah later renamed it The Oprah Winfrey Program. Although the show was not rated well, she was a very articulate host. The show was wildly popular after this transformation. Oprah Winfrey, who acted in several movies, including The Color Purple, was also a voice-actor, founded her own production firm, and is the author or many books. This is how Oprah Winfrey was successful.

You may also be surprised to learn that she has many other accomplishments. She has won numerous awards including Miss Fire Prevention and a special award at Chicago Academy of Arts. She is America’s top book marketer and entertainer. Oprah Winfrey’s fun facts include that Harpo is Oprah spelling backwards. She launched many people’s television careers, including Dr. Phil. These are the stories of Oprah Winfrey’s life. Despite her struggles and hardships she became a remarkable woman.
